Governor's Mission to China

We recently received an announcement from the International Trade office of the Georgia Department of Economic Development promoting a trade mission with Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue to Beijing. The mission will take place from April 1-4, 2008.

If you’ve every thought about doing business in China, whether exporting product or looking for a supplier, this is a great opportunity. The state, along with a matchmaking service can provide you with leads for prospective partners and serve as a guiding hand in this booming part of Asia.

Accelerate Your Business in China with three days of business meetings

China is the world’s most populous country and today is the fourth-largest economy in the world. The market-oriented reforms implemented over the past two decades have had a profound impact not only on China itself but on the world as a whole. China’s economy grew at an average rate of 10% per year during the period 1990-2005, the highest growth rate in the world.

In 2006, Georgia’s exports to China totaled over $1 billion, ranking China as Georgia’s third largest export destination. This marked a 10% increase from 2005 exports to China. Among all U.S. states exporting to China, Georgia ranks number second in its export of paper, number one in meats, and number four in organic chemicals. Other top exports to China include wood pulp, machinery, and copper.

Meet Prospective Business Partners

With the inauguration of the State of Georgia’s newest economic development office in Beijing, you will greatly benefit from the vast network of contacts, business opportunities, and tourism destinations in the world’s fastest-growing economy.

The 2008 Olympic Games will be held in Beijing and Delta Air Lines is to begin a non-stop flight from Atlanta to Shanghai, on March 30, 2008. These events are expected to create great opportunities for Georgia companies.

Take advantage of these opportunities and couple them with our business support to make connections and enter the Chinese market. Part of GDEcD’s mission is to work in conjunction with the private sector to create economic growth and sustain a business-friendly environment.
