ENCORE Fayette

ENCORE Fayette is a new Senior Leadership program in Fayette County. It is targeted to Fayette County residents who are over the age of 65 and who are looking for ways to gove back to their community.

The organization’s goals are to provide participants with background knowledge of the community and a comprehensive look at the issues and challenges facing the County, its public and private agencies, organizations and institutions; improve community outreach and communications by identifying and presenting the skills that are needed and being sought after by Fayette’s public and private organizations and agencies; and build and sustain positive working relationships, between and among the Encore program participants and the Fayette agencies and organizations they can serve.

Each session in this 10 week long program covers the changing demographics, major issues, opportunities for leadership and volunteer service. Participants who complete the program will receive Continuing Education Unit credits from Clayton State University.

On February 12, the ENCORE group learned about Economic Development issues in Fayette County. FCDA President/CEO Matt Forshee presented the opening session on general economic issues as well as the closing session, where he gave a case study on what it took to recruit Sany America to Peachtree City. Other presenters included Fayette Chamber President Virginia Gibbs, Georgia Power Community and Economic Development Regional Manager Odessa Archibald and Georgia Department of Economic Development Regional Project Manager Blair Lewis.

Below are copies of Matt’s two presentations to ENCORE. Additionally, there is a link at the bottom of the page where one can download copies of these presentations.
