Joe Morton

Joe Morton is the City Manager for the City of Fayetteville, Georgia and represents the City on the Fayette County Development Authority (FCDA) Board of Directors. He was appointed to the FCDA Board in 2004 and reappointed in 2006. He was appointed as City Manager in 1994 and served in this capacity until 1998, where he accepted the position of Assistant City Manager and Director of Finance for the City of Peachtree City. He served in this capacity until 2000 where he was reappointed to the position of City Manager of Fayetteville.

He has over 25 years of local government administrative and management experience and has also worked in the private sector. He has a BS in Criminology from Florida State University and a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Georgia. He is active in various professional associations including the Georgia City/County Management Association (GCCMA), the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the Georgia Finance Officers Association (GFOA). Joe is a GFOA Certified Financial Officer and was recently designated as a Credentialed Manager (CM) by the ICMA. He also serves as a Trustee for the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System (GMEBS).

Joe has also been very active in the community having served as a board member for the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and United Way. He is also a former Rotarian having served as Treasurer and Secretary. Joe is also active in both the Fayetteville Main Street Association and the Fayetteville Downtown Development Authority.
