Jerry Cobb
Jerry Cobb grew up in South Alabama and graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS in mathematics and physics before entering the USAF and serving as an F-4 fighter pilot during the Vietnam conflict. After flying 135 combat sorties over North Vietnam, he returned home to teach missile deployment and tactics to fighter pilots on their way to Vietnam.
Jerry left the Air Force after 8 years to fly for National Airlines, Pan Am and finally Delta for 9 years before he retired. He served in Flight Operations at Delta as Chief Line Check Airman for the B-737 series of aircraft.
He spent 33 years in the airline industry and holds ratings on the B-727, 737, 747, 757, 767, DC-10 and Lear Jet. Jerry still loves to fly general aviation aircraft after 23,000 hours and 46 years of flying.
He is married to Ann Hulsey and they have 3 sons who all flew solo on their 16th birthday. The youngest son, John, is flying F-16s for the USAF and Lockheed. Tom is a law professor at the University of Washington, and Ross is the owner of an aerial photography company in Miami.
Since retirement, volunteer work has become Jerry’s hobby. He has served on the Airport authority since 2000 and currently serves as Chairman.
He has been involved with The Great Georgia Airshow since 2001 and has served as Airshow Director/Chairman from 2002 through the present.
Jerry is a Kiwanian and member of the Dixie Wing of the Commemorative Air Force.
